Goddess Hekate is a lunar Goddess from antiquity. It was identified with Selene (the Moon Goddess) and Artemis, who represents the lunar light. We also know that Hekate is also related to Magick, Necromancy and the world of the dead, Hades. Those areas were connected in ancient Hellenic religion, mainly in the parts that were available for the initiates of the mysteries. In this article, I will use Plutarch's work On The Apparent Face On The Circle of The Moon and my Platonic background. Plutarchos was a High Priest/Hierophant in Delphi and a Middle-Platonic philosopher, so he is "our guy" for understanding ancient Hellenic religion.

In this category we see people who worship a lot of different Goddesses and when they go online they claim to be devotees of Hekate in a forum of Hekate, of Demeter in a forum of Demeter, of Isis in a forum for the study of the Egyptian religion… They say they worship and invoke many Goddesses and they sense them.

In September 2017 I wrote the article: The Illusive Goddess in which I examine some cases of false dedication we see in the modern religious community of the Goddess Hekate. I continued to see those cases online. Recently, I have noticed that more devotees take a weird way, worshipping a Goddess they prefer to call Hekate, but She isn’t Hekate, at least, Hekate was never seen in that way in the past, only the last decades. Some friends of the Covenant of Hekate justify those people by telling that there isn’t only the Hellenic religion, in which we should be based. However, Hekate appears in the history in the Hellenic mythology and all the information and qualities we draw related to Hekate originate to the Hellenic history and mythology.

This is an invocation to the Goddess Hekate, I wrote one night being very connected with the Goddess. This is a hymn I intented to give it to the COH team that celebrates Deipnon, but this project didn't materialized due to constraints of the administration. So, I present it here in the safe ground of the Crossroads Witch to be used wisely during deipnon.
Lay down your deipnon in a plate. Light the candles, incense and calm yourself by relaxing the body. Use a brass instrument to make sound. You can use brass jingles for that. You are going to produce sound with three strikes. Make sure you have experimented before with your musical instrument.

Shrine
Shrine is a sacred surface/table that is used only for one God or Goddess and it is mainly for devotional work, praying and offerings. For creating a shrine you will firstly need a surface like a table or a bookcase section, where you will add items corresponding to the specific deity. The table could be either put at the center of the room or against the wall of the room, traditionally looking at the east. On the table must be put a depiction of the God or the Goddess. This depiction can be either a statue or a cornice with a printed image of the deity. The printed image version is used when there is not a statue of the God available to buy.
